5.2 million people suffer from asthma in the UK alone and it is estimated that poor asthma management costs the NHS £2.3 billion and costs the UK £12.7 million in lost working days annually.

It is widely recognised that the above figures could be dramatically improved through targeted education, increased compliance with prescribed medication, greater asthma management by patients themselves and raising patients own expectations of their own quality of life.
